Activities
  • To review areas of machine learning application in radiotherapy especially as it pertains to outcome modeling
  • To discuss categories, limitations, conditions and pitfalls for using machine learning approaches in outcome models in radiotherapy.
  • To highlight similarities and differences between machine learning methods and conventional statistical methods in terms of application, interpretation and validation when building outcome models
  • To provide general guidelines and methodology on the use of machine learning in radiotherapy for reproducible and non-black box fashion implementation, such as the use of interpretable machine learning methods.
  • To issue reporting guidelines on presenting results of model fits in a transparent way such that the model may be used by others (avoiding over-fitting or bias) and on validation (avoiding information leak from training to validation) synonymous to the TRIPOD-AI (Transparent reporting of a multivariable prediction model for individual prognosis or diagnosis for AI) checklist or the recent checklist from Medical Physics Journal (CLAMP) with focus on outcome modeling in radiotherapy.
