Task Group No. 480: Quality assurance and optimization of MRI-based R2* mapping for use in liver iron quantification (TG480) AAPM Members, Affiliates and Non-Member Affiliates - Login for access to additional information Activities Describe QA and QC procedures for MRI-based R2* mapping with a focus on liver iron quantification, including a description of known failure modes and artifacts. Include both 2D and 3D methods for R2* mapping Describe availability of R2-based methods (e.g., FerriScan), but focus on R2*. Describe protocol optimization procedures, including acquisition at clinical field strength (focusing on 1.5T and 3T), R2* mapping, and measurement. Describe available calibrations (at each field strength) between R2* [s-1] and liver iron concentration (LIC, [mg Fe/g dry]) including their confidence intervals. Gather the necessary information to complete a standard quantitative MR description document, building on the Quantitative Physics Imaging Document [QPID] template from WGPQI.
