N. AAPM Membership Data for RSNA Committee Volunteer Database.

AAPM will permit membership data that is provided for the RSNA Annual Meeting to be utilized in the committee appointments database, so that eligibility of AAPM members can be verified.

Current Procedure

A. AAPM Visibility at RSNA Annual Meeting.

As noted in current RSNA practice, RSNA features the AAPM logo in many areas: Registration brochures, scientific program and Physics Subspeciality Content Brochure.

Physics sessions signs will have AAPM added at no additional expense.

AAPM Program Liaison is provided an office in the Program Office of RSNA.

RSNA staff will prepare a regular "Tip of the Day" column for the Daily Bulletin and will consult with a physicist from the committee that oversees the Daily Bulletin on content.

B. AAPM Booth at RSNA Scientific Meeting.

AAPM will be assigned a complimentary 20' x 20' booth at the RSNA Annual Meeting. The expenses covered by RSNA include exhibits space rental fee, corner charges, and booth structure.

Complimentary booth items/services provided by RSNA to the AAPM will be: 1) 20 x 20 ft. island space; 2) Freeman booth rental including counters, towers and shelves; 3) 20 x 20 ft. carpeting; 4) booth structure labor installation costs; 5) booth structure labor dismantle costs; 6) two tables; 7) six chairs; 8) two trash cans; 9) nightly vacuuming service.

Electrical and network connections are not included and would be paid by AAPM, if desired. AAPM will work with the General Contractor on graphics and will pay these expenses directly.

Changes in booth design or in the creation of new graphics would be at AAPM's expense. RSNA will work with AAPM staff to provide assistance in making the necessary changes to the current booth layout as early as possible.

Contracted exhibitors will have the opportunity to select their booth position for the following year's Annual meeting at the current year's meeting. Complimentary exhibit space will be assigned after all paid exhibitors have selected their booth location. AAPM staff will work with RSNA's Manager: Exhibition Services to determine the location of the exhibit on an annual basis.

C. Sleeping Rooms at Annual Meeting.

RSNA provides 7 comp single / double rooms and 2 comp suites for the AAPM Board at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. Additionally, RSNA sets aside 22 rooms (non-comp) at the Hyatt Regency Chicago as needed by AAPM.

H. Imaging Physics Residences

RSNA and AAPM each provided $560,000 to support a total of 8 imaging residencies over 2013 - 2017. In 2018 the RSNA Board committed to providing additional support for the imaging physics residencies, at a total of $210,000 over 2020 to 2022, with the understanding that: The residencies supported are in diagnostic medical physics; AAPM will undertake efforts to identify a long-term solution to the shortage of board-certified medical physicists; AAPM will report to the RSNA Board prior to the halfway mark on the success of the program and status of sustainability plans before consideration will be given to extending RSNA's financial support; and RSNA's support for the residencies will be amply publicized.

I. An AAPM Liaison is appointed to each of the following RSNA Committees. Expenses are reimbursed by RSNA.

Scientific Program Committee, Physics Sub-committee of the Scientific Program Committee, Refresher Course Committee, Education Exhibits Committee, Technical Exhibits Committee, Radiology Informatics Committee, Education Council, and Daily Bulletin Editorial Board. The Board of Directors requests the AAPM recommend physicists who are RSNA members to serve in these liaison positions. Liaisons serve one-year terms, and although a six-year limit is recommended, they are not subject to term limitations that apply to RSNA committee members.

J. Physics Refresher Course Recording.

AAPM is authorized to record selected Scientific Assembly physics refresher courses, under certain conditions. (June 2002)

Physicists who are not members of RSNA are eligible to be appointed to RSNA committees so long as they are members of AAPM. (April 2004)

L. Quantitative Imaging Collaboration.

The RSNA and the AAPM agree to work together cooperatively to raise awareness of the need for quantitative imaging methods in healthcare, to build an infrastructure to support quantitative imaging and to increase the incorporation of quantitative methods in radiology practices. Examples of the cooperation may include jointly sponsored meetings, joint working groups on specific topics, and initiatives designed to facilitate methods and protocols which provide a foundation for quantitative imaging applied to a variety of diseases. (September 2007)

M. Physics Education Modules.

RSNA and AAPM cobrand the online modules developed for radiology residents that are designed to provide education on topics included in the AAPM Physics Curriculum for Radiology Residents.

RSNA and AAPM will each contribute $9,000 annually for the next five years for honoraria to be given to academic departments that review and update RSNA/AAPM physics modules for radiology residents (November 2015).

RSNA will provide free access to the online physics modules for AAPM members.
