Policy text

The objective of this Policy is to ensure that all AAPM-related content on the BBS Forum is consistent with the organization's mission and objectives. This policy serves as an Agreement to, and provides important information about, your use of the AAPM BBS Forum. If you are unfamiliar with Internet forums, see this Wikipedia link for terminology.

The purpose of the AAPM BBS is to facilitate topical discussion. Forum users must respect the purpose of the BBS forum and any thread outside the forum's scope will be removed.

  1. General procedures
    1. If you choose to accept this agreement, you must accept it as presented to you, without changes. AAPM will accept no additions or deletions. At any time AAPM may change, add, or remove any part of this agreement or any part of the services and features provided by the Forum. If it does so, AAPM will update the agreement here, and may also post such changes elsewhere on the Forum.
    2. If any future change is unacceptable to you, you should discontinue using the Forum. Your continued use of the Forum will always indicate your acceptance of this agreement and any changes to it.
    3. As long as you comply with the Agreement, AAPM grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited privilege to enter and use the Forum.
    4. EMCC is responsible for this policy and the AAPM Social Media Policy. In the event of any conflict between this Agreement and AAPM social media policy, the terms of this Agreement will govern.
    5. Views expressed on the Forum are that of users and are not endorsed by AAPM.
    6. AAPM does not prescreen information submitted by users of the Forum ("Threads"). AAPM retains the right, but not the responsibility, to edit or remove any Submission, including those deemed by AAPM to violate the Agreement. AAPM will make good faith efforts to investigate allegations that Submissions violate the Agreement but (a) makes no warranty that it will edit, remove, or continue to permit the display of any specific Submission, whether or not subject to such allegations, and (b) will have no liability whatsoever for editing, removing, or continuing to permit the display of any Submission whatsoever.
    7. AAPM involvement: AAPM representatives or staff will not generally respond to questions, comments, or requests via the Forum. Any information that is provided by AAPM representatives or AAPM staff is offered on an "AS IS" basis without warranties of any kind.
    8. AAPM staff will, on request, provide each committee, subcommittee, TG, etc. [committee(s)] with a committee member-only BBS to facilitate topical discussion.
    9. BBS Forum discussion items may be monitored for appropriateness of content by a Moderator (typically the committee chair or a member of EMCC) to comply with this Policy.
    10. If a topic is posted in a Forum that is not appropriate for the question, a Moderator has the right to move that topic to another better suited Forum.
    11. The Website Editor has jurisdiction over all AAPM BBS Forum content that is created and maintained under this Policy.
  2. Content
    1. Any content that might be interpreted as the position or view of the AAPM (other than a direct link to AAPM content) must clearly state that it is the position or view of the posting individual or committee, etc., and does not necessarily reflect the position of the AAPM. Content, including images, shall not violate copyright laws or trademark rights. All necessary permissions to reproduce content should be obtained prior to posting and must be produced on request.
    2. The AAPM home page shows links to BBS threads that have been updated within the prior two weeks.
    3. General Member Discussion Forum threads will be frozen after two weeks of inactivity. EMCC can unfreeze a thread if it deems appropriate.
    4. General Member Discussion Forum frozen threads will be archived after a 6-month period.
    5. Inappropriate content shall not be posted (See section III).
  3. General guidelines on appropriateness of content
    1. You are personally responsible for whatever you post online; ensure that what you post is professional.
    2. Do not post advertisements, promotions, or solicitations for products and/or services unless and until being in receipt of written permission from the AAPM website editor.
    3. Only post accurate and reputable information. If you are in doubt about the reliability of the information's source, consider not using it.
    4. Always avoid posting provocative statements and/or giving irritable, angry responses to posted material. Please point out any observed errors, but never disparage the person. Flame wars are prohibited.
    5. Be respectful of the privacy of others. Avoid publishing or citing personal details and photographs of individuals without their permission.
    6. Pornography or any illegal material may NOT be posted or linked in any shape or form.
    7. Your posts may not include racial, ethnic, gender-based insults or any other personal discriminations.
    8. Profanity will not be tolerated and may lead to immediate suspension.
    9. Do not harass, insult, taunt, provoke, demean, or personally attack other forum members. Be friendly even if others are not.
