This policy is to be applied to all new and existing named memorial funds.
- To establish a new named memorial fund, an initial donation of at least $1,000 is required.
- All new named memorial funds will have a sunset clause of five years.
- After the sunset clause, all monies in a named memorial fund will be transferred into the General E & R Fund, unless at least $15,000 has accumulated in the fund, at which time an additional five years will be added to the sunset.
- For those funds for which the sunset was extended an additional five years, all monies will be transferred into the General E & R Fund after the five-year extension, unless at least $25,000 has been accumulated. For the latter, the Development Committee should seek ways to use these monies to create a permanent memorial to the deceased member. Any monies left over will be transferred to the General E & R Fund.
- When an initial donation of at least $1,000 is not available, it should be possible for donors to donate to the memory of an individual via a category entitled "Donation to the AAPM Education and Research Fund in memory of...".
