The Editors and Editors-in-Chief (hereafter: Editors) of AAPM's scientific publications, Medical Physics and the Journal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics (JACMP) receive compensation from the AAPM for their Journal-related work. While the Editors are independent contractors of AAPM, AAPM requires significant oversight over the content and form of these Journals, as well as the process by which they are compiled, edited and published. AAPM's oversight requires an efficient reporting structure which can facilitate contract negotiations and other activities related to the Editors' Journal-related work, while recognizing the importance of editorial independence. This policy is meant to specifically identify the voting members of the AAPM Executive Committee (EXCOM); including the Chair of the Board, President, President-Elect, Secretary and Treasurer, as the group responsible for overseeing the Journal-related work of the Editors, including, but not limited to, contract negotiation, performance evaluations, and contract termination. The presidential chain (COB, President, and President-Elect) shall direct negotiations with individual or groups of Editors on behalf of EXCOM, with a majority vote of EXCOM to approve any action.
