The AAPM believes that participation in educational activities is an important function of the organization. This participation can take several forms.
ENDORSEMENT |
Criteria |
- The AAPM believes that this activity would be of interest to its members but does not actively participate in the planning of the meeting.
- The AAPM will not be financially involved.
- AAPM can endorse vendor-specific workshops provided the following disclaimer is presented with advertising of the workshop, "AAPM does not endorse the product in question; rather, it endorses the educational component of the program."

AAPM Involvement |
- AAPM reviews the program for appropriateness.
- The group may use the AAPM logo with the words "endorsed by the AAPM."
- The AAPM will provide a set of mailing labels without charge.

- The endorsement is approved by the AAPM Continuing Professional Development Committee (CPDC).
- The chairman of the CPDC notifies the organizers and headquarters.
- Endorsement will be documented in the committee minutes.

- The endorsement is approved by the International Educational Activities Committee (IEAC).
- The chairman of the IEAC notifies the organizers and headquarters.
- Endorsement will be documented in the committee minutes.

Co-Sponsorship |
Criteria |
- The AAPM believes that this activity would be of interest to its members and will participate in all phases of the meeting development.
- The AAPM will not be financially involved.

- The group may use the AAPM logo with the words "co-sponsored by the AAPM."

- The CPDC recommends approval and nominates, if necessary, AAPM members to the organizing committee of the planned meeting.
- Final approval is at the level of the CPDC.
- The chairman of the CPDC notifies the organizers and headquarters.
- Co-sponsorship will be documented in the committee minutes.

- The AAPM will share the profits and the risks of the meeting.

- The AAPM will participate in planning the budget and the finances of the meeting.

- Sponsorship is initiated by application to AAPM Continuing Professional Development Committee (CPDC).
- The CPDC recommends approval and nominates AAPM members to the organizing committee of the planned meeting.
- The meeting is reviewed by EC and if the EC recommends approval the planned budget including cost and profit sharing is presented to the Finance Committee.
- Following approval by FINCOM the arrangements are presented to the board for final approval.
- The meeting organizers are notified by the AAPM secretary.
- Sponsorship is documented in the board minutes.

The AAPM board can directly sponsor, co-sponsor or endorse activities.
On going activities can be co-sponsored or endorsed for periods of up to five years. Sponsorship
must be renewed annually.
The AAPM will not participate in activities that are primarily commercial.
