For new policies The Board, or the Executive Committee, acting for the Board, shall with appropriate consultation, create new policies. Administrative policies created by EXCOM and reported to the Board by the Chair of the Board at the next Board meeting. Professional policies will be considered for adoption by the Board at the next Board meeting.
For revisions to existing policies The Board, or the Executive Committee, acting for the Board, shall with appropriate consultation, revise policies as needed. Revisions to administrative policies adopted by EXCOM will be reported to the Board by the Chair of the Board at the next Board meeting. Revisions to professional policies will be considered for adoption by the Board at the next Board meeting.
The new or revised policy sunset date will be on the last day of the 5th year after approval unless otherwise noted.
For policies due to sunset at the end of a calendar year January: Headquarters reviews the AAPM policies and determines which policies will reach sunset at the end of that calendar year. The policies are reviewed by Headquarters and recommendations are made and forwarded to the Executive Committee for review at their February meeting
February: The Executive Committee assigns the policies to be reviewed to appropriate group(s).
March: Headquarters sends letters to the above determined group(s) for review.
Early October: above determined group(s) return their recommendations to the Executive Committee for action.
Fall EXCOM: The Executive Committee, acting for the Board, shall extend sunset dates on administrative policies if deemed appropriate. Such actions shall be reported to the Board by the Chair of the Board at the next Board meeting. Extension of sunset dates on professional policies will be considered for adoption by the Board at the next Board meeting.
