Organization and Completion of CAMPEP Self-Study
AAPM Residency Training Program Workshop

Workshop Objective

The AAPM is sponsoring a Workshop to promote the increase in the number of certified Medical Physics Residency Programs. Targeted attendees are institutions that are actively pursuing Medical Physics Residency Program certification by CAMPEP, but have yet to submit their CAMPEP required Residency Program Self Study, a self assessment report by the clinical residency program director giving evidence of consistency of the proposed program with a set of guidelines found in AAPM Reports 79 & 90. In addition, a set of CAMPEP guidelines and a Self-Study template can be downloaded from the CAMPEP web site. However, many still struggle to navigate the application process and overcome their institutional challenges.

The Workshop is an event where attendees will receive lectures dissecting the components of the CAMPEP Self Study along with practical issues (e.g., dealing with hospital administration, funding sources, resident recruitment, affiliate programs, etc.). Corresponding to each section of the Self Study, the participants will spend time to create a draft for their own Self Study with direct interaction with Workshop faculty. The goal of the workshop is for participants to leave with a reasonably complete draft of their institution’s Self Study, with deficient areas clearly identified and solutions suggested.

The Workshop instructors include existing CAMPEP approved program directors and CAMPEP site reviewers.  Although sponsored and subsidized by AAPM, a $100 tuition fee will be required of participating attendees.

This Workshop has been approved for 10.52 medical physics continuing education credits by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Physics Education Programs, Inc. (CAMPEP).

Notes

1. Attendees should have a good working knowledge of Reports 79 & 90 prior to the meeting.
2. The value of the workshop is increased if attendees have a draft of their Self Study prior to the meeting.
3. Attendees are required to bring their own laptops or pre-arrange to rent a laptop to be provided at the workshop.
4. Electronic copies of all required documents would be transferred to the attendees’ laptops by wireless LAN, USB devices, or CDs.
5. The exercise time (4.25 hours) requires the presence of several faculty members to assist attendees and to answer individual questions.

Online Evaluation System - Available August 28 - September 18

To obtain continuing education credit attendees must complete an ON-LINE evaluation survey for each session attended.

OVERVIEW

• The survey will be available online Friday, August 28 thru Friday, September 18.
• Attendees must complete the survey by September 18 in order to receive CAMPEP credit.
• After the evaluation system closes:
  •  Attendees will be contacted with instructions for viewing the meeting transcript via the CAMPEP website. 
  • The transcript will list a description of the sessions and the number of continuing education credits obtained.
• Your AAPM member I.D. is required to complete the evaluation survey.
• CAMPEP credits will be released by September 30.
