HyTEC 2112 - Initial Data Pooling for Radiation Dose-Volume Tolerance for Carotid Artery Blowout and Other Bleeding Events in Hypofractionated Head and Neck Retreatments (2020)

Carotid artery and major vessel dose tolerance for reirradiation with stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) was estimated from dose-response models of pooled data sets. Several important factors to reduce the risk of carotid blowout and other bleeding events are presented. Recent reports had lower risk, but the exact mechanisms remain unknown, thus making it imperative to continue investigating the relative importance of these factors.
