Session Overview:
Norman Lee Brown, Gulfport, MS
Partners in Solutions Program Director

In recent years, modern radiotherapy techniques have increased in complexity due to the substantial advances in treatment planning and delivery systems. Techniques such as Intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), tomotherapy, and volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) are some examples of complex radiation delivery practices, which demands a more comprehensive patient-specific quality assurance (QA) program. Due to the increased complexities, new QA strategies have been developed, such as in vivo dosimetry and transmission detector systems to ensure safe and accurate dose delivery. The purpose of this session is to allow the vendors to present their solutions, describe how they work, how to interpret the results, and the pros and cons. A better understanding of the available options will help the therapeutic medical physicist chose the best solution for his or her clinic.
