MRI is playing an increasingly important role in both diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy. There have been significant advances in MRI and MRI-guided interventions in recent years, including but not limited to 4D-MRI, MR/Linac, super resolution MRI, quantitative MRI. These new MRI advances hold great promises in enhancing diagnosis and treatment of various malignances. There is a strong interest in the medical physics community in learning these new advances, understanding their principles as well as their clinical applications.
This session focuses on the development of 4D-MRI technology and its clinical applications in radiotherapy of abdominal cancers. Various strategies of 4D-MRI such as compressed sensing and novel k-space trajectories will be included, as well as MRI-based motion management and treatment planning. Ultra-resolution diffusion MRI will be introduced and its efficacy in resolving sub-millimeter image features will be described. Quantitative imaging and image analysis are of great important for MRI and MRI-guidance and will be discussed in the context of clinical applications.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand the various approaches in development of 4D-MRI and their pros and cons.
2. Understand the principles and clinical applications of ultra-resolution diffusion MRI.
3. Understand the important and current development in quantitative MRI imaging.
