Nanoparticle-based solutions are emerging for drug delivery, imaging and radiation dose amplification. Multi-functional platforms have been designed to deliver therapy and imaging agents preferentially to the site of disease. Challenges to clinical implementation include biodistribution, toxicity, targeting and scalable efficacy. In this session, we will present the current status of preclinical and clinical development of several of the most promising formulations. Topics addressed will include nanoparticle physics and pharmacology, as well as the interaction of nanoparticles with tumor biology and physiology.
Learning Objectives
1. Attendees will learn about factors that effect nanoparticle uptake and subsequent efficacy
2. Attendees will learn about optimizing nanoparticle design for clinical translation
3. Attendees will learn about the challenges of clinical translation of nanoparticles for imaging and therapy
