The New Professionals Subcommittee (NPSC) offers a New Professionals Symposium (NPS) at each Summer Meeting in order to provide information about how to become involved with AAPM and how to deal with issues that students, trainees, and people new to medical physics jobs are faced with. This summer our topic is Teamwork and Leadership, and we invite you to come with your questions about how to be a team member and how to successfully work in leadership, either for AAPM or for your school or employer.

AAPM President Melissa Martin will discuss leadership of the AAPM, NPSC Chair Loretta Johnson will talk about how she became involved with teamwork and leadership soon after residency, and a panel of experts will discuss topics relevant to becoming known as a team player and as a leader, both in AAPM and in schools, training programs, and new jobs: Jessica Clements is the Chair of the Medical Physics Leadership Academy (MPLA) Working Group and will discuss how to become involved in being trained as a leader; Todd Pawlicki will discuss transitions from trainee to leader and how to assume leadership when there is no clear leader; and George Sherouse will discuss what your professional identity is, how you can craft your professional identity, and why it matters what your professional identity is. The panel will then answer questions, some pre-submitted and others from the audience.

1. Understand the leadership structure of the AAPM
2. Understand how to become involved in committees and in leadership of AAPM
3. Understand how to become trained in leadership by AAPM's MPLA
4. Understand the challenges and mechanisms to becoming a leader in a new career
5. Understand what your professional identity is
