WE-F-708-0 (Wednesday, August 2, 2017) 1:45 PM - 3:45 PM Room: 708
The presentations associated with this session will provide an overview of: 1) recent work in ultrasound image formation using appropriate physics and data driven models for image quality improvements including the methods employed, potential pitfalls and possible solutions; 2) the evolution of ultrasound imaging systems from conventional delay & sum beamformers to software beamformers to permit a wide variety of image formation methods and new algorithmic development to foster a continued high level of innovation in ultrasound scanners; and 3) the development of ultrasonic perfusion imaging methods without contrast agent enhancement by expanding dimensionality of data acquisition through alternative sampling that increases the sensitivity of the measurement to fast and slow flows, simultaneously, with the application of modified clutter filters that help separate all of the relevant signals before computing power Doppler images.
Learning Objectives:
1. Develop a general understanding of the application of physics and data driven models for ultrasound image formation and quality improvement.
2. Develop an understanding of the evolution of ultrasound beamformers to foster a continued high level of innovation in ultrasound imaging.
3. Develop an understanding of a novel approach for ultrasonic perfusion imaging methods without contrast agent enhancement.
