WE-G-708-0 (Wednesday, August 2, 2017) 4:30 PM - 6:00 PM Room: 708

Recent advances in ultrasound-related technologies have had a significant impact on enhancing image quality as well as offering new approaches for both diagnostic and therapeutic applications. This session focuses on recent developments in real-time 3D volumetric imaging, organ motion tracking during radiotherapy as well as normal-tissue monitoring following radiotherapy.

The presentations will cover : 1) recent developments on the use of real-time ultrasound in tracking intrafractional organ motion during radiation therapy of thoracic and abdominal tumors; 2) the developments of quantitative ultrasound in monitoring and predicting radiotherapy-induced normal-tissue changes in a variety of cancer treatments (e.g., breast, GYN and prostate cancer); and 3) the development of an acquisition system that combines ultrasound imaging, optical guidance, and real-time visualization tools to guide the 3D Dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasound (DCE-US) acquisition both spatially and temporarily.

Learning Objectives:
1. Understand current state of ultrasound in monitoring organ motion during cancer radiotherapy.
2. Learn the role of quantitative ultrasound in the evaluations of radiation-induced normal-tissue toxicity.
3. Learn about the real-time volumetric imaging using 3D Dynamic contrast-enhanced ultrasound.
