Request for Proposals – 2024 AAPM Summer School
The AAPM Summer School Subcommittee is issuing its annual RFP for Summer School topics. This RFP is intended for potential Summer School Program Directors to communicate their ideas and intentions to the committee.
Preamble
The annual AAPM Summer School was initiated in 1969 to satisfy the growing needs of Association members who sought more continuing education opportunities in their field. It has since become a primary instrument in achieving the short- and long-term educational goals of the Association through the generation of surplus funds.
Each year, the Summer School aims to:
- Organize and disseminate information as a bridge between research and practice;
- Supply Continuing Education Credits (e.g., MPCEC, SAM, etc.);
- Create an environment that connects recent and more experienced medical physicists to engender a lasting goodwill and improve communication skills;
- Demonstrate appropriate professional conduct and competency; and
- Provide tutorial/small group workshop experiences facilitated by leaders in the field.
Programs are held at a college or university with the option for attendees to stay in on-campus dorm style housing. Program Directors and Faculty are expected to stay in on-campus housing to promote collegiality/open discussion between those attending.

Scheduling templates have been provided here for your convenience. We strongly recommend building your program with these formats in mind. Preference will be given to submissions which include a complete program schedule. Questions regarding best practices, including how to schedule hands-on workshops, should be directed to Payton Brown prior to the deadline.
All proposals will be reviewed by the AAPM Summer School Subcommittee. Final selection is based on criteria such as the quality of the proposal as well as its relevance to clinical practice, and topics presented in previous years. In short, overall programmatic goals will be considered when reviewing proposals.
We look forward to your submissions!
Sincerely,
AAPM Summer School Subcommittee
