 Campus Information

The Colorado College Campus is relatively flat and easily walkable. The facilities utilized by the Summer School are all within a 10 minute stroll.

Campus Parking:
During the summer, our guests may park on campus free of charge. When you check in at the residence hall front desk, you will need to obtain a parking permit for your vehicle. Once the parking permit is placed on the dashboard of your car, you may park in any non-reserved space on campus. There is also ample street parking in close proximity.

Mail Services:
Colorado College has a full service mailroom located on the lower level of the Worner Campus Center. You can mail letters and packages, buy stamps, and take care of other mail services at this location. If you will be receiving personal mail at the conference, it can be picked up at your residence hall front desk. Please have mail sent to the following address:

Bookstore:
The Colorado College Bookstore is located in the Worner Campus Center on the lower level. The bookstore offers souvenirs, clothing, books, snacks and many other items. Please check your name badge holder for your discount coupon.

Campus Security:
There are security officers available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for your safety. In the event that you should need assistance, they can be reached by calling extension 6707 from any campus phone.

Emergency Procedures on Campus:
Review your residential area to make note of fire extinguishers, pull stations and exits in the event that there is a fire or other emergency. In case of fire, pull the nearest fire alarm and leave the building by the nearest fire exit. DO NOT use the elevator and DO NOT re-enter the building, until the fire department or campus security officers indicate that it is safe to re-enter the building.

Colorado College Admissions and Campus Tour:
Are you interested in obtaining more information about attending Colorado College or participating in a campus tour? The Admission Office is willing to assist you; just call them at extension 6344, Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

 Lodging and Meals

Residence halls have common bathroom facilities.

Loomis Residence Halls:
The Loomis Campus Residence Halls are equipped with the following amenities: fan, micro fridge (refrigerator and microwave combination), desk, bookshelf (a telephone is available for $5.00 at the front desk), and Internet service (you must register your network card at with the conference office at extension 6720). Please be aware that you will have summer conference employees living in these facilities to monitor the building, please respect their privacy, as they will be working long hours to make your stay more enjoyable.

If you choose to stay in the residence hall, the housing package will include meals (5 breakfasts, 5 lunches, 3 dinners). Scientific Registrants have the Icebreaker and Night In included in the registration fee. Companions must purchase tickets for these meals. It also includes towel service (Monday, Wednesday & Friday), cups and soap. Please note that you will need to bring your own alarm clock and Ethernet cable for your laptop.

Housing Reservations Form (PDF)

DEADLINE for housing reservations is June 6, 2003.

NO REFUNDS will be given for cancellations received after June 1, 2003.

Western Ridge Apartments:
The Western Ridge apartment complex has been designed to make your stay more enjoyable with the added amenities of individual single rooms sharing a central bathroom for the apartment. The apartments are also equipped with 19” TV/VCR combinations, coffee pots and coffee service, fans, alarm clocks, one telephone, internet service in the individual rooms (you must register your network card with the conference office at extension 6720), and cleaning supplies under the sink. Please make sure that electronics are turned off before your departure from the facility. The apartments are not air-conditioned but do have windows that can be opened. The cleaning supplies are for your use to make sure that you leave the apartment in the same condition that you found it. You will be charged for any damage or additional cleaning that is needed in the apartment. If you require assistance in your apartment please call the Loomis Desk at extension 6229 and report any problems.

The apartments have several configurations: some are four single occupancy rooms and others are 2 double occupancy rooms. Some have stairs within the apartment.

Check In and Check Out:
Residence check in begins at 2pm on Saturday, June 21 at the Loomis Hall registration desk. The check out time is 1 pm on Thursday, June 26. Luggage storage will be available for early arrivals on Saturday.

If you require residence hall check in after midnight, please call security.

Dining Services:
Meal plan cards are effective starting with Sunday breakfast. Many of your meals may be served in the Rastall Dining Facility located in the Worner Campus Center. Vegetarian meal choices will always be available.

Breakfast: 7:00am-8:30am Lunch: 11:30am-1:00pm Dinner: 5:00pm-6:30pm

Should you need additional snacks or ice during your stay, Benjamin’s Snack Bar, also located in the Worner Campus Center is open to further meet your needs.

Monday - Friday: 7:30am - 9:00pm Saturdays and Sundays: 10:30am - 6:30pm

Vending Machines:
Soda, juice and snack machines are also located on the first floor of each of the three large residence halls and in many of the meeting areas across campus.

Phone Service:
You may check out a phone from your residence hall front desk for $5.00 during your stay. Once you have hooked up the phone, you may use if for local calls and credit card calls. In order to access an outside line, you must first dial 9 before entering the phone number. Should you be receiving calls in your room, you may stop at the front desk to obtain your phone number or look on your conference ID card. The college operator will also have a phone list of all conference guests should you chose to give out the main campus number, (719) 389-6000. There are also pay phones located in the lobby area of the three large residence halls and in many other buildings around campus.

Keys and Access Cards:
Each resident guest will be issued a key to their room and an access card that will be used for both entry to your building and meals. If you loose either the key or the access card please contact the desk attendant to have them replaced; however, you will be charged $15.00 for a lost key and $10.00 for a lost access card.

Lock Outs:
If you are locked out of your room, please go to the front desk for assistance. If you should require help after hours, please contact Campus Security at extension 6707 with the house phone.

Maintenance Concerns:
Please report any irregularities in your room or the building to the residence hall front desk or the conference office at 0. They will do their best to remedy the situation as soon as possible. Thanks for your understanding and cooperation.

Personal Laundry:
Coin-operated washers and dryers are located in most residential buildings. Please ask the front desk or conference staff for specific locations.There is a professional laundry/dry cleaner 1 block from Campus

Linen Changes:
Soiled towels will be changed on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. In order to obtain clean towels, please leave the soiled ones outside your room door in the residence halls and outside the apartments in Antero, Blanca, JL Knight, Edith Gaylord, and El Diente and a member of the housekeeping staff will leave a new set. Should you have additional needs, please contact the front desk.

 Conference Card

For Scientific Attendees staying off campus a Colorado College Conference Card is required. This fee covers your use of the facility and is mandatory. The charge is $40.00.

A refund will be made if you do not attend the Summer School.

 Meals for Those Staying Off Campus

Meals can be purchased for cash in the cafeteria where the on campus attendees will be dining. This particular cafeteria is a buffet style "all you can eat" option. There is another dining alternative next door, which serves items a la carte.
