Old Montréal Walking Tour and
Pointe-à-Callière Archaeology Museum
(with lunch)

Departure from Palais des congrès: 9:00 AM COST: $ 45 US
Return to Palais des congrès: 2:30 PM

Discover Old Montréal's history and charm as you explore its maze of cobblestone lanes and the largest concentration of 17th, 18th and 19th century buildings in North America. This remarkable collection of architecture embodies a rich cultural heritage; as home to North America's original explorers and traders each street and building represents a page of history. Featured on this guided tour are the beautiful restoration projects that have revitalized the Old Port, City Hall, early marketplaces and civic buildings, original financial district, historical homes, churches and Place Jacques-Cartier, site of 17th century skirmishes and now a centre of lively street life.

The program will include a light gourmet lunch at Chez Queux, a lovely French restaurant located on Place Jacques-Cartier in the heart of Old Montréal. The fine cuisine is complemented by the décor of exposed stone and brick walls juxtaposed with dark wood panelling, beamed ceiling, softly lit Tiffany lamps and richly upholstered chairs.

Following lunch, the afternoon continues with a guided visit of the Pointe-à-Callière Archaeology Museum, a fascinating marriage of history and high-tech, located on the site where Montréal was founded over 350 years ago. Following a short multi-media presentation highlighting Montréal's early years as a colony in the New World, wander through the extensive archaeological "digs" exposing the colony's original foundations and structures dating back to the 17th century. Holograms, inter-active displays and artefacts dating as far back as 900 A.D. that were unearthed in Old Montréal illustrate over 1,000 years of history.

At the conclusion of the tour return with your guide, or remain in the historic quarter and explore the boutiques, art galleries and handicrafts shops or relax in one of the many European-style cafés and bistros. The tour goes rain or shine. The pace of the tour is leisurely. Wear comfortable walking shoes.

Price includes: licensed professional tour guide (1 per 20 guests), tour guide gratuity, entry fees and guided visit of Pointe-à-Callière Archaeology Museum, three course light gourmet lunch at Chez Queux, lunch service gratuity, Maestro Plus co-ordination.

Price includes hot tea or coffee at the conclusion of the meal. All other beverages with lunch are on an individual basis.
