Lodging and Meals

Summer School 2002 registrants will be housed in the Royal Victoria College Residences (RVC). These residences normally operate as a womens’ residence during the school year, but are used for both genders during the summer. There are two wings dating from 1931 and 1964. Rooms are standard dormitory rooms with single beds, no air conditioning or private telephone. Bed linens and towels are supplied. A common hall bathroom is shared amongst many rooms. Attendees should bring their own alarm clocks. A map of the campus is available at http://ww2.mcgill.ca/StuServ/1stYear/discover/maps.html (RVC dorms are located at building 180 in the bottom right corner). Overflow attendees may be housed in the Bishop Mountain Complex (building 134 at top right corner of map).

There are 4 internet access computers available only at Bishop Hall Cafeteria at the top of University Ave (15 minute walk uphill). Attendees may wish to use paid internet services available in most downtown cybercafes and some hotel lobbies.

Attendees are responsible for reserving and confirming their housing with the McGill University Residences as listed in the housing form. The AAPM housing block will be dropped on June 15th but rooms may still be available after that date depending on demand. It is recommended that families and couples stay off campus at one of the nearby hotels listed under Off Campus Housing if shared community bathrooms are not desirable.

PLEASE NOTE: Housing fees paid by check must be paid in Canadian dollars and made payable to McGill University Residencies. The registration fees are to be paid in U.S. dollars and made payable to AAPM.

Except for the Friday Greek dinner BBQ, all breakfast and lunches will be taken in the Royal Victoria cafeteria located on the basement level of the Royal Victoria Residence. People staying on campus must register for the cafeteria meals. People staying off campus may purchase meal tickets no later than June 26, but may not purchase meals on site for cash. Vegetarian entrees will be available at every cafeteria meal. For the Night In, we will have a festive Steak and Salmon BBQ held at the Royal Victoria Quad on Saturday night.

If you intend to rent a car, please note parking policy under Ground Transportation.

Off Campus Housing

A number of off campus hotels are available to those attendees wishing to stay in accommodations with full services and air conditioning. A small number of rooms have been blocked at Le Cantlie Suites Hotel and the Holiday Inn but the blocks will be dropped June 18th. Rates will increase to normal levels after this date. The hotels listed are on Sherbrooke St., an easy walk to the lecture theatres and Royal Victoria Residence (evening sessions). Please note that July is an extremely busy tourist month for Montreal and you may be disappointed if you delay booking. You will be competing with the extremely popular Jazz festival being held in Montreal this weekend. Attendees and families not staying in the dorms may purchase their cafeteria meals in advance by checking off the appropriate box on the registration form. You may not purchase the cafeteria meals on site for cash.

Hotels 1 & 2 are 3 blocks south of the Lecture Theater. Stars indicate AAA rating. Rates are for single or double occupancy per night and do not include the 15% sales tax. Children under 12 are free. At the time of press, $1 CDN = $0.63 USD
