    • Topic: Basics of CT Pediatric Protocoling: How to Optimize the Hardware
Synopsis: While implementing or reviewing and updating CT protocols are an excellent way to ensure that pediatric patients are imaged in a mindful and responsible way, this can be a daunting task. This webinar will discuss available resources for medical physicists, such as the recently updated Image Gently RSNA modules, as well as provide practical implementation tips. The discussion will include recent experiences towards optimization of photon counting technology for the pediatric population. The session will close with sharing some initial operational experiences navigating pediatric protocols by our resident member. Speakers include two former chairs of the Pediatric Imaging Subcommittee (PISC) as well as the Chair of Image Gently.
Speakers: Sam Brady, Keith Strauss, Don Frush, Caleb Stallcup

    • Topic: Innovations in Medical Physics Education
Synopsis: In 2022, the Arthur Boyer Innovations in Medical Physics Education Award was presented to Joseph Schulz for work for the development of an affordable platform for virtual reality-based patient education in radiation therapy. As an encore presentation for Dr. Schulz’s project, this webinar will provide an opportunity to learn more about this innovative work and how you can participate in the upcoming Innovations in Medical Physics Education session in 2023.

    • Topic: Synthetic CT: A New Paradigm in Radiotherapy Treatment Planning
Synopsis: There is growing interest in MRI-only treatment planning and online adaptive radiation therapy under the guidance of on-board CBCT or MRI. Synthetic CT generation plays a critical role in these procedures as it provides need information for dose calculation (e.g., electron density) and patient set up (e.g., digitally reconstructed radiograph or simulated fiducial markers for non-MRI-Linac). This webinar will inform the audience of: 1) state-of-the-art developments on synthetic CT generation from MRI, CBCT and PET; 2) current clinical applications of synthetic CT for different scenarios such as MRI only for treatment planning for photon or proton therapy, and online adaptive radiation therapy using MRI-Linac or Non-MRI-Linac; 3) challenges and future developments of synthetic CT. Time will be allotted for Q&A.
Speakers: Steve Jiang, Neelam Tyagi, Jing Wang, Xiaofeng Yang, Kuang Gong
