Important notices, upcoming deadlines, and events happening in the Medical Physics community.
- CALLING ALL AAPM MEMBERS—WE NEED YOU NOW MORE THAN EVER
As federal policies continue to evolve, their impact on medical physicists is becoming increasingly complex. From Executive Orders and agency directives to workforce changes, these shifts are shaping how we work, innovate, and serve patients. The President’s FY26 budget stands to significantly reduce funding for scientific and health research. Together, we can amplify the voice of medical physics and drive meaningful change!
Support NIH, NSF, and NIST by visiting our TAKE ACTION CENTER and sending letters to your Members of Congress. This easy-to-use platform takes only a few minutes, if using our form letters, and just a couple more if you’d like to customize your messages. This brief act is critical to inform lawmakers of the necessity of these programs.
Share your story with AAPM. From the action center you can also provide AAPM’s Government Relations Team valuable first-hand insights. Your experiences matter. Sharing only with us—we will protect your identity—helps our team understand the fuller picture of how these policies are truly affecting the medical physics field. Your real-world insights are crucial to enabling our advocacy efforts to properly educate lawmakers and the public about what’s at stake.
- JOIN US: AAPM’S ADVOCACY DAY | THURSDAY, JULY 31
Right after the Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., we’re taking our message to Capitol Hill. Be part of the conversation that shapes the future of science, healthcare, and our profession. Please note, registration for participation will close June 20.
Register now for Advocacy Day and become a champion for medical physics.
- HPS-NCRP Webinar on Executive Orders Related to Radiation Protection
The Health Physics Society, jointly with the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements, is holding a two-part webinar and open forum on the recent executive orders (EO) and their impact on health physics. Registration required. June 9 @ 12:30pm ET

- AAPM Response to Executive Order to Reform the Nuclear Regulatory Commission
A new executive order directs the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to reconsider the use of the Linear Non-Threshold model and the As Low As Reasonably Achievable principle. While the order speaks specifically to the use of the LNT model and ALARA principle in the nuclear power industry, the ALARA principle is foundational in all radiation safety practices. AAPM will monitor effects of this executive order and continue to communicate relevant information to its membership.
