ActivitiesThe charge of this Ad Hoc is to consider the best editorial, management, and delineation models for AAPM journals including Medical Physics and JACMP. In particular, the committee should consider:
  • Exploring how the leadership of a journal (vested with the editor-in-chief) can work proficiently with its management based on best examples from other journals
  • Strategizing about the best publication output for medical physics scholarship within AAPM journals and non-AAPM affiliated journals – what should be our strategy, cooperation, etc.
  • Working integrally with JsBMC and existing editors to ensure concordance with lessons learned from past experiences
  • Building upon the ongoing work by JsBMC, integrating and harmonizing the functions of the two journals so that the two can complement and support one another towards the broader mission of influencing medicine and the science and practice of medical physics
  • Devising a future structure for the journal administration at the AAPM, e.g., Retire JsBMC to a Journal Oversight Committee, that functions more as a board, with managerial functions deferred to the HQ staff and the publisher
  • Compensation model for the leadership, management, and editorial board functions of the journals based on industry standards
  • Evaluating the value of building towards a series of journals with delineated focus areas – explore examples from other journals towards that approach
