Presentation 1 American Health Care Delivery System in the Next Decade Timothy L. Flaherty, M.D. Vice Chair, American Medical Association Dr. Flaherty, a radiologist in private practice, has been invited to provide insight into the changes in the American health care delivery system in the next decade, as viewed through the crystal ball of the American Medical Association. In particular, he has been asked to emphasize the costs and benefits of high tech medicine.
Presentation 2 Overview of the HCFA HOPPS Rule Michael Gillin, Ph.D. Chair Professional Council, American Association of Physicists in Medicine The HCFA Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System rule, which is scheduled to become effective on July 1, 2000, will be summarized. The impact on radiation oncology medical physics, radiation oncology, and imaging will be briefly described. Time will be allotted for questions from the floor. |

"Educational Activities of Interest to Medical Physicists" The AAPM Education Council Symposium will provide a review of education activities of the AAPM and CAMPEP. The program will be of interest to AAPM members who wish to be better informed about educational activities that are available to them and also of interest to internal attendees who would like to learn more about medical physics educational activities in the US and Canada.
