43rd Annual Meeting of
the American Association of Physicists in Medicine

Call for Papers

An exciting and educational program is planned for the 43rd Annual AAPM Meeting. The meeting will feature scientific sessions in varied topics in radiation therapy and imaging physics, as well as Scientific Symposia, Refresher Courses and Continuing Education Courses.  The program will include the following:  

President’s Symposium: Molecular Imaging and Radiation Therapy Treatment Planning

The AAPM Professional Council Symposium - A Trilateral Activity

Techniques for Teaching Medical Physics to Allied Health Professionals

Scientific Symposia will include sessions on; Independent IMRT verification, Shielding for IMRT, DICOM beyond 2000, History of Standards, Advances in Cardiac Imaging, PET in Diagnosis, Prostate Imaging, Advances in Breast Imaging

Morning Refresher Courses will include Diagnostic Topics: Advances in 3-D Image Acquisition & Visualization, CR vs. DR: A Moderated Debate, Metrics of Measuring Image Quality ; Therapy Topics:  Fusion in Radiotherapy Planning, Radiopharmaceutical Dosimetry, Impact of New 10CFR35, On-Line Imaging, Commissioning of 3DTP Systems, Modern Linac Acceptance Testing, CT Simulation, and more basic topics including; Electron Beam Dosimetry (update of TG-25), TG-51 (including RPC recommendations), MU Calculations, Basic Film Dosimetry, Review and Update of NCRP-49, and TBI Dosimetry.

Continuing Education Courses will include a series on; IMRT, Intravascular Brachytherapy, Mammography, Nuclear Medicine Quality Control and Accreditation, Nuclear Medicine Instrumentation, MRI, Ultrasound.

AAPM members and non-members are encouraged to submit proffered abstracts on all new technologies for Scientific Sessions on; IMRT Verification, intravascular brachytherapy, PET for Treatment Planning, Advances in CR and DR detectors, Image quality metrics, Multislice CT, 3-D and multi-dimensional image acquisition and visualization.

Oral, Poster and Electronic sessions will be included in this year's program. Paper exhibits have been eliminated for the 2001 meeting.
