Periodic ACR –based quality control testing is a key component to insuring that your MRI scanner is capable of producing images that are up to the standard of care. Several changes have been made to the QC manual since the inception of the program, most recently with the 2015 manual. Many physicists who test MRI scanners are familiar with the basics of ACR phantom scanning; however, system tests such as magnetic field homogeneity and coil checks may be less familiar. This talk principally will review the procedures associated with annual ACR testing of MR scanners, including some anecdotal experiences from the perspective of a medical physicist at a mainstream medical school hospital.

1. To understand the ACR annual MRI testing tests comprehensively.
2. To discern differences in testing that arose in the latest QC manual revision.
3. To evaluate available options for testing (e.g., coils) when vendor guidance is not available.
