Imaging guidance is playing an increasingly important role in both diagnostic imaging and radiation therapy clinical trials. There have been significant advances in imaging guidance development and applications in recent years, including but not limited to PET/MRI, MR/Linac, multi-spectral CT, quantitative imaging. There are great potentials for these advances to be used in the clinic to enhance diagnosis and treatment of disease. The role of imaging guidance is best established through clinical trials. There is a strong interest in the medical physics community in learning these new advances, understanding their principles as well as their clinical applications. Medical physicists with expertise in physics and quality assurance in imaging and radiation therapy modalities provide an essential role in clinical trial teams. They can help ensure the integrity of imaging data acquisition and analysis in clinical trials. It is of special interest to them to gain knowledge about the applicability and characterizations of these advances for clinical trials, as it will help them to design and execute imaging guidance in the clinical trials context. This session provides an overview of recent advances in imaging guidance techniques as well as developments in image processing and analysis, with an emphasis on clinical trials.

1. Learn recent developments in imaging guidance techniques.
2. Learn the use of imaging guidance in adaptive radiotherapy clinical trial.
3. Learn quantitative imaging and new image analysis methods in the context of clinical trial.
